Christmas Tree Collection The Public Works Dept. will collect Christmas trees curbside the week of January 5, 2009 on your regular trash day. Trees must be curbside no later than 7:00AM. Do NOT place your tree in a plastic bag. The trees we collect are recycled into compost so they need to be free of plastic, lights, wires and ornaments. We do not pick up wreaths or swags due to the wire.
Christmas trees will be picked-up by the Highway Dept. division of Public Works, not Northside Carting. Residents may also dispose of their tree at the Cross Road Transfer Station during regular operating hours. No Transfer Station permit is needed to dispose of a Christmas tree.

Swasey Parkway News A large birch tree on Swasey Parkway often climbed by children is off limits due to a recent spate of vandalism to the tree. The tree is one of the original trees on the parkway and sits about halfway down the park by the new pavilion. It is in danger of being lost due to a number of deep cuts made by people on the branches and trunk. The Trustees of Swasey Parkway are consulting with an arborist to determine the best course of action to care for the tree. In the meantime, the tree has been blocked off with yellow tape and signs informing the public to keep out. The Trustees regret that the actions of a few have resulted in the loss of the use of this tree, but hope with proper care, the tree will remain on the park for generations to come.
